The MUNCHIES!!!

Why is it that when I start trying to eat healthy and exercise I get the MUNCHIES?!!  It’s like my thoughts for the day are filled with what my next meal or snack is going to be.  It can really feel kind of obsessive at times.  Now, when I’m overeating and not working out, I’m never hungry.  I guess if you’re overeating, your body doesn’t have time to get hungry.  Hopefully having the munchies means that my body is burning my food for energy. (I hope…LOL!)

Uhhhhh!!!! It's Just One of Those Days.....

(Sigh…..) Ok, so today is one of those really tough days where I have created a million excuses as to why I can’t exercise: I’m getting home to late, I need to go to the store, I have to make cake, I’m too tired, I’m too hungry, my foot hurts, my stomach hurts, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!!!!  So how do you play this mind game on days like today??  As soon as I got home, I immediately put on my work out clothes and shoes and filled my water bottle.  I haven’t made it downstairs to the man cave yet, but at this point I’m dressed so I might as well get the job done.  As much as my aching body (because Insanity takes no prisoners) is screaming at me to lie down, my mind is telling me there are no excuses NOW GET UP AND GO!!! “Dig Deeper!!!!”  I will admit that while typing this I have a renewed energy to get downstairs and JUST DO IT!!!!!  It’s easy to exercise when you want to, but exercising when you don’t want to requires a level of commitment you have to be willing to make for a healthier you!!!  Insanity here I come!!!

Starting the Week Off Right!

I decided that today would be the day I restarted my journey on fitness and health.  My sisters can tell you that I don’t know how to start slow and build up to harder things.  When I go, I go all in.  The best way to do that with a workout is the Insanity DVDs.  Greatest and most difficult workout I’ve ever done (yes, I’ve tried a lot of workout videos, but this one seems to keep me interested).  All I ever have to do to stay motivated is exercise.  Once I start, my head goes to another place.  I’m in that mode now.  When I workout, my alter ego shows up and it has the view of no excuses, get it done, you’ll feel better when you do.  I’ve learned throughout my quest to get healthy that you are more reluctant to eat bad when you exercise.  You don’t want to ruin all of that hard work you did to burn those calories.  Set goals for yourself (week by week), that way you won’t feel overwhelmed and make excuse as to why you can’t obtain those goals.  My goal for this week is to exercise at least 5 times for the week and to cut out the snacking (unless it’s fruit).  1 down, 4 more to go.  That is definitely an obtainable goal.  I’m excited!!!  Whatever you eat or drink or whatever you do, you must do all for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31).
Stay motivated, let’s make this week count!!!

Sometimes, being honest with yourself is hard!!!!

Ok, so the battle for a healthy lifestyle continues. This is one battle I’m truly tired of fighting, but although I’m tired, I can’t and won’t stop trying to be a healthier me.  Like my sister Kendria, I too have gotten off track.  My eating has remained natural and organic, but I have really slacked on my exercise.  The beginning of my excuses started with my inability to play my Insanity DVDs because of a broken blue ray player (really? What a lame excuse). All it takes is that first excuse to keep you in a downward spiral of laziness.  One excuse always leads to MANY!!! (It really is a mind game)  So here I go again, in an attempt to remain healthy through exercise and eating healthy. Yes, it definitely can be done, but  you have to stay prayerful knowing God does give motivation!!  That being said, let’s get to it.  NO MORE EXCUSES!!!   “The power we receive in union with Christ is sufficient to do His will. As we contend for the faith, we will face troubles, pressures, and trials.  As they come, ask Christ to strengthen you”.  LET’S GET MOTIVIATED!!

Enough Already!!!

So, I’ve played around enough this summer and now it’s time to get back to business.  I’ve let my healthy eating, exercise, and budgeting go down the drain!!  I could blame it on a lot of things like…”It’s too hot”, “not enough time”, “vacation”, etc., but those are all just EXCUSES!!  It really was just ME being lazy. :o(  It really doesn’t take that much time to take care of yourself, you just have to do it.  So enough coulda, shoulda, woulda’s…it’s time to get back with it.

Today, I started out by packing my breakfast and lunch to take to work.  That way, I wouldn’t be tempted by all of the fattening foods lurking at the endless number of fast food places near my job.  I also took advantage of the nice weather today to squeeze in a 30 minute walk.

*Sidenote: I can really tell when I’ve gotten out of shape because any little exercise causes lower back pain. UUGGHH!!

I am blessed to have my sisters always in my corner pushing me to the next level.  We actually all decided today that it was time to get back on track!!

How We Keep Going...

How we Keep Going…

Starting a healthy journey is the easy part.  Sticking to the healthy journey is where it gets tough!  So, how do you keep going?

Have you ever noticed that when you start a healthy journey, obstacles ALWAYS seem to present themselves??  For us, there have been the dreaded Holidays (we made it thru with minimal gain), illness (actually loss during this), cold weather (it’s so much harder to exercise when you’re too cold to get from under the covers), time (one of the biggest excuses of all!!), plateaus (UUGGHH!!), and sometimes you just don’t want to do it. (WAAAHH!!)

Well, even through all of the above we are still at it and we are still going strong.  Like we said in the beginning, this is a journey which means it will be ongoing for the rest of our lives.  I think we finally found the secret and it’s called NEVER GIVE UP!!

In the words of Dory, “Just keep swimming…”
We’ll see ya soon!!
